Nine Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Yemen: West’s Silence Persists
Israeli Military Strikes Power Plants, Port, and Oil Facility in Hodeidah and Sanaa as West’s Silence Continues

Hodeidah/Sanaa, Yemen – A series of Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and the western port city of Hodeidah have left at least nine people dead, according to Houthi-controlled media. The strikes come in response to a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi fighters towards Israel, which was intercepted.
Israel’s military stated that it targeted “military sites” used by the Houthi forces for operations, describing the strikes as a necessary response to repeated attacks.
“The targets attacked are used by the Houthi forces for their military operations,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
According to Al Masirah TV, a Houthi-run outlet, seven people were killed at the port of as-Salif, while two others died in strikes on the Ras Isa oil facility in Hodeidah province. The outlet also reported that the strikes damaged critical infrastructure, including two power stations near Sanaa.
Yemen’s SABA news agency confirmed that the strikes targeted Hodeidah, with casualties reported among employees at the Ras Isa oil facility.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said the attacks were aimed at Houthi military sites, including ports and energy infrastructure, following the missile launch and ongoing Houthi aggression over the past year.
“I warn the leaders of the Houthi terrorist organization: Israel’s long hand will reach you as well,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on social media. “Whoever harms Israel will be harmed sevenfold.”
Escalation Amid Regional Tensions
Houthi political bureau member Mohammed al-Bukhaiti accused the U.S. of supporting Israel’s actions, labeling the attacks as hypocritical given Western claims of humanitarian concern.
“The US-Israeli bombing of civilian facilities in Yemen reveals the truth about the West’s hypocrisy,” al-Bukhaiti said. He vowed that the Houthis would continue their support for Gaza, adding, “We will meet escalation with escalation until the genocide in Gaza stops.”
Houthi fighters have conducted a series of attacks on Israel and its shipping interests in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, claiming solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Pro-Houthi political commentator Hussain al-Bukhaiti told Al Jazeera that Thursday’s strikes were Israel’s retaliation for Yemen’s actions, which have disrupted Israeli shipping routes and escalated economic costs.
“Yemen has said clearly it will not stop these attacks unless the Israeli regime ends its aggression against Gaza, lifts the blockade, and withdraws,” al-Bukhaiti said.
The strikes mark the latest escalation in a volatile region, with Yemen’s Houthis positioning themselves as key players in a broader regional confrontation
