China and India convened the 32nd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs (WMCC) in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting was co-chaired by Hong Liang, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of China’s Foreign Ministry, and Shri Gourangalal Das, Joint Secretary (East Asia) from India. Delegates from foreign affairs, defense, interior, and immigration departments of both nations were also present.
Both parties reviewed and praised the progress made in resolving border-related challenges. They pledged to implement these solutions thoroughly and take additional steps to alleviate tensions in the border areas. The meeting also served as a platform to prepare for the next round of special representatives’ talks on the China-India boundary issue, aligning with the significant consensus reached by the leaders of the two nations.
The two countries reaffirmed their intent to maximize the effectiveness of existing border negotiation frameworks and continue dialogue through diplomatic and military channels.
